Exit Strategist & Certified Value Builder™ Advisor
Sam Cooper
18+ years building, scaling, exiting SMEs. Live acquisition operator.

Sam Cooper is an exit strategist and Certified Value Builder™ Advisor, with 18+ years building, scaling, and exiting SMEs. His path into this work started by helping his own father retire from the family business, and continued when he built and exited his own. Sam helps owners build businesses that run without them — whether that means stepping back, preparing for a clean exit, or getting ready to scale. Alongside his advisory work, he's also actively building his own acquisition-led group in property management, so he brings a live operator's perspective as well as the advisor's toolkit.
Having helped my own father exit his business, and having exited my own, I understand the emotional side of this as much as the mechanics.
Sam's areas of specialism:
- ◆Exit readiness & valuation — Value Builder™ diagnostics across the 8 value drivers (financial performance, recurring revenue, owner dependency, growth potential, and more)
- ◆Owner-dependency reduction — building businesses that run without the founder holding it up
- ◆Recurring revenue & financial performance improvement
- ◆Coaching SME business owners through structured, staged change rather than one-off advice
- ◆Acquisition readiness — informed by his own active buy-and-build experience in property management
For Succession Partners — owners preparing to retire or sell — Sam runs the Value Builder diagnostic to establish a real, sector-benchmarked valuation and a clear picture of the gaps, then coaches the owner through closing them: reducing day-to-day dependency, tightening recurring revenue, and getting the business into a state where a sale doesn't require them to stay on for 12+ months post-completion.
For Platform Partners — owners pursuing buy-and-build — Sam helps these owners get their own business into a scalable, sellable state before they take on the complexity of acquiring others, using the same Value Builder framework to identify what needs fixing first. He's also actively running his own acquisition-led roll-up, so he understands acquisition readiness and integration from direct experience, not just theory.
